Program Overview
With the rapid development of China's social economy, especially the rapid development of urban industry and population, there has been a significant increase in the discharge of sewage and pollutants. Urban rivers have been regarded as the main discharge channels for urban wastewater and domestic sewage, and excessive pollution has directly caused eutrophication of water bodies, forming urban black-odor water bodies. Urban black-odor water treatment can not be delayed for the sake of the landscape as well as human life and health.
Urban black-odor water bodies not only bring the people a poor sensory experience, but also directly affect the people's lives as prominent environmental problems. In 2017, the total number of black-odor water bodies identified nationwide were 2,082, and 1,310 had not completed treatment. Although some cities have made significant progress treating black-odor water, the overall treatment situation is still not optimistic. The number of black-odor water bodies identified in Q1 (1,861) and Q4 (1,915) of 2016 show that the number of black-odor water bodies is gradually rising. This also reflects the complexity of treating black-odor water bodies and the difficulty of maintaining water quality. A timely and effective monitoring platform for black-odor water bodies can not only provide real-time information on water quality, but also help management teams take measures to maintain good water quality before it deteriorates, saving manpower, material resources, time, and efficiency.
